BULLS BEAT 87ERS 112-110 FOR FIRST ROAD VICTORY OF THE SEASON

By Windy City Bulls Staff /November 16, 2017

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL – The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, hung on and grabbed their first road win of the season with a 112-110 win over the Delaware 87ers.

Balance was the name of game as all eight players who saw action in Wednesday’s contest scored in double figures, which ties a franchise record. Diamond Stone paced the Bulls with a team-high 25 points (11-14 FG), six rebounds and two steals. Jaylen Johnson (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Tyler Harris (11 points, 10 rebounds) each tallied double-doubles. Jarell Eddie scored 16, while Jon Octeus and Brandon Wood combined for 24 points, five rebounds and seven assists off the bench.

The first 12 minutes were not kind to Windy City as they fell behind early when Delaware opened the game on a 19-4 run making six of their first nine three-point shots in the first five minutes. Conversely, the Bulls would struggle shooting 2-of-8 from the field in that time span. The 87ers would enjoy a double-digit lead for the majority of the first quarter and would lead by 35-23 at the end of the first stanza.

Without the services of Emeka Okafor who missed the game with an illness, the 87ers had six players in double figures including three players with 20 or more points. Jacob Pullen poured in a game-high 26 points and added three rebounds and two assists. Newly acquired Christian Wood made an immediate impact registering a double-double (23 points, 10 rebounds) and James Michael McAdoo pitched in with 20 points and eight rebounds.

The Sevens continued to hold a double-figure lead, but the Bulls found consistency halfway through the second quarter and Windy City would end the half on a 12-3 run to cut a 15-point deficit down to one. The momentum carried into the second half as the Bulls sprinted out to a five-point lead within the first five minutes of the third quarter. Aided by a 34-point quarter, the Bulls would take a double-digit lead into the final 12 minutes.

The 87ers would make things interesting despite trailing by 13 early in the fourth quarter. Led by Christian Wood who scored 10 of his 23 points in the fourth, Delaware would battle back and cut the lead to one, 106-105 with just over 90 seconds to play. However, Ryan Arcidiacono would answer right back with a three-point shot to extend the lead to four. With 12.9 seconds remaining and the ball, the 87ers had a chance to tie or take the lead, but Jon Octeus came up with a steal on the inbounds, to help seal the win in the first game of a five-game road trip for the Bulls.

Windy City heads back to the Midwest and gets set to do battle with the Wisconsin Herd on Friday. Tip-off is at 7:00 pm and the game will take place at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, the home floor of the Milwaukee Bucks.
