HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL – The Windy City Bulls, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, announced today that the team has acquired center Daniel Ochefu and a 2018 fourth-round pick from the Maine Red Claws in exchange for the returning rights of Wesley Saunders and Windy City’s 2018 second round pick.

Ochefu (6-10, 240) appeared in 19 games for the Washington Wizards last season after going undrafted in 2016. He was released in October and signed with the Boston Celtics as part of their 2017 training camp roster. Boston assigned him to the Maine Red Claws as an affiliate player where he’s appeared in six contests posting averages of 5.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 23.9 minutes.

The Villanova product spent four years with the Wildcats and reunites with former teammate Ryan Arcidiacono, with whom he won an NCAA National Championship in 2016. During his collegiate career, Ochefu played in 141 games (110 starts), shot .600 from the floor and averaged 7.2 points and 6.6 rebounds. In his final season, he tallied eight double-doubles, grabbed 10 or more rebounds on 13 occasions and scored double figures in 17 of the team’s 37 contests. He finished his collegiate career as one of only seven players in Villanova history to record 1,000 or more points and over 900 rebounds.

Saunders (6-6, 2018) played four years of collegiate basketball at Harvard and has two years of NBA G league experience. He saw action in 46 games with the Windy City Bulls a year ago and averaged 8.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting .484 from the field. Saunders is currently playing for Joensuun Kataja of the Finnish Korisliiga.

The trade will be finalized pending the approval of physical exams.

The Windy City Bulls return to action on Wednesday against Maine in a 10 AM matinee at the Sears Centre. For up-to-date information and to purchase tickets, visit WindyCityBulls.com.
