WINDY DROPS THEIR THIRD STRAIGHT, 117-108 TO CAPITAL CITY

Hoffman Estates, IL – The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, dropped their third consecutive game and fell 117-108 to the Capital City Go-Go on Friday night at Entertainment and Sports Arena.

Five Windy City players scored in double figures led by Mychal Mulder who collected his sixth career 20-point game and tallied a team-high 23 points, while matching his career-high with six made three-pointers. Rawle Alkins tallied a career-best 20 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while Tyler Ulis accumulated 15 points, five rebounds and nine assists. Kaiser Gates tied his career-high with 13 points off the bench and CJ Fair added 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Jordan McRae led all scorers with 41 points (15-26 FGs) and added a game-high 14 rebounds, seven assists and three steals. The 41 points tied a franchise-high for the most points scored by a player in a single game. Tiwian Kendley tallied 19 points, four rebounds and two steals, while Devin Robinson, the Go-Go’s second Two-Way player, recorded a double-double and had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Chiozza posted a stat line of 14 points, three rebounds, six assists and four steals and Lavoy Allen pitched in with a near double-double of own and recorded 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

For the second consecutive game, Windy City was in sync at the outset, jumping out to an early 8-4 lead. After making just three of their first 10 shots from the floor, Capital City mounted a run of their own and rattled off nine consecutive points to take a five-point lead, their largest of the first half. The first period featured two ties and five lead changes before the Bulls were able to create separation later in the frame. On the strength of six points apiece by Beachem and Gates, Windy City tied the game at 21 and scored eight of the final 11 points in the quarter. As a team, the Bulls shot 45 percent from the floor, made a season-high six threes in the first quarter and led and led 29-24 at the end of the opening 12 minutes.

The second quarter belonged to Windy City as they began the period with a 10-5 spurt and took their first double-digit lead of the night on a driving floater by Alkins. The Go-Go used a technical foul and a bucket to slice to the lead to seven, but the Bulls responded with seven unanswered points to grab a 14-point lead, their largest of the night. Capital City pulled with five, but back-to-back buckets by Hall and a pair of free throws by Mulder extended the lead to double figures once more. Windy City shot a blistering 66 percent in the second period as they tied their season-high for points scored in the first half and led 62-53 at the intermission.

The Bulls scored six of the first nine points to begin the second half, but it was Capital City who took control in the period. After trailing by as many as 13 points in the third, the Go-Go erased the deficit and used an extended 16-5 run to make it a one possession game, forcing a Windy City timeout with 6:18 to play in the quarter. Following the timeout, McRae nailed a three-point jump shot to give the Go-Go a 72-71 lead, their first advantage since the score read 21-18 late in the first quarter. Offensively, McRae had the hot hand, scoring 21 of his team’s 36 third quarter points. Despite Windy City shooting 52 percent in the stanza, Capital City outscored the Bulls 36-25 and led 89-87 heading into the final 12 minutes.

Windy City’s second half offensive struggles manifested itself in the fourth quarter as they made two of their first 14 shots to begin the period. In fact, the Bulls went over seven minutes in between field goals, which allowed Capital City to forge a double-digit lead of their own. After trailing by as many as 14 points, the Bulls made one final push and cut the lead to seven, but unable to draw closer. For the second consecutive quarter, McRae led all scorers with 10 points in frame and Capital City picked up their first win in franchise history, 117-108.

After holding the Lakeland Magic to 71 points on opening night, Windy City has allowed 114 or more points in three consecutive games and are now 1-3 on the season.

Windy City returns home Sunday afternoon to take on the reigning eastern conference champions, Raptors 905. Tip-off at Sears Centre Arena is set for 4:00pm CT.
