Windy City Bulls Run Away from Capital City Go-Go

The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, rode a strong fourth quarter to a 124-109 victory over the Capital City Go-Go in Washington D.C. Wednesday night. Seven Windy City players scored in double figures, led by guard Javon Freeman-Liberty’s 22 points.

The two teams were back-and-forth throughout the first quarter until Windy City rattled off a 12-3 run near the end of the period to help give the Bulls a nine-point advantage after the first frame. Both squads traded baskets in the second quarter, as Windy City’s lead held steady at nine.

Capital City was scorching hot coming out of halftime, starting the third period on a 19-2 run to take an eight-point lead. But the Bulls weathered the storm and took the lead back, entering the final 12 minutes ahead by three.

Windy City’s lead ballooned to 19 in the fourth quarter as the Bulls coasted to a 15-point victory.

Chicago Bulls Two-Way guard Malcolm Hill notched a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Windy City center Daniel Oturu came off the bench to record an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double. Guard Ethan Thompson stuffed the statsheet, finishing with 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals.

Veteran guard Jeremy Pargo chipped in 16 points and seven assists for Windy City. Bulls big man Aaron Wheeler was the fifth starter to reach double figures, scoring 13 points while snagging three steals. Henri Drell came off the pine to add 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting for Windy City.

Capital City was led by former Windy City guard Devon Dotson’s 20 points and 10 assists. Go-Go guard Quenton Jackson added 19 points and six assists off the bench.

The Go-Go did their damage from the perimeter, knocking down 10 more three-pointers than the Bulls. But Windy City dominated the interior, winning the rebound battle by 18 boards and outscoring Capital City 72-42 in the paint.

With the win, the Bulls improved to 5-7 in the regular season, while Capital City fell to 8-5.

Next, the Bulls have a rematch with Go-Go in Washington D.C. on Friday, Jan. 27. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on NBAGLeague.com.
