Windy City Bulls unveil new basketball court design

By Windy City Bulls Staff /July 23, 2016

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL – Today the Windy City Bulls unveiled the court that will be used in the franchise’s inaugural season at Sears Centre Arena. The historic moment for the new franchise took place in front of an excited crowd of Windy City Bulls season ticket holders and special guests during an exclusive afternoon event.

The reveal included a group of selected winners who submitted entries via social media for the chance to assist Windy City Bulls staff members in pulling a giant curtain off of the floor to unveil the new court.

“It is great to see the court down in the Sears Centre for the first time and give our season ticket holders the first chance to see the unique design that will be the center of excitement during our first season,” said Windy City Bulls President Brad Seymour.

The court design features the Windy City Bulls secondary logo displayed at center court, with a portion of the primary logo featured along the south sideline. BMO Harris Bank, the presenting sponsor of the Windy City Bulls, is represented in addition to the Sears Centre Arena. The Windy City Bulls website URL and Twitter handle are also displayed along the north sideline.

The court was purchased by the Village of Hoffman Estates, in partnership with the Windy City Bulls, from Horner Sports Flooring, who refurbished the floor and painted it with the design created by the Chicago Bulls Creative Services Department. The floor had previously been used for the NBA Global Games in Asia before being refurbished.

Chicago Bulls legend and radio analyst Bill Wennington was on-hand for the unveiling and interacted with fans throughout the afternoon. The six Chicago Bulls NBA Championship trophies and the Bulls’ 2016 NBA Summer League Championship trophy were also on display.

Charles Brady, a local 13-year-old Windy City Bulls fan, took the first shot on the court with an assist from Bill Wennington.

“Over the course of the past few months, Charles has emerged as a key supporter of our team,” explained Seymour. “He was the first in line at our Fan Fest in March, and his ongoing messages and communications with our staff since we met him have been very encouraging for our organization. We were honored to have him represent all Windy City fans, by taking the first shot on the court.”

The Windy City Bulls, the official NBA Development League Affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, are preparing for its inaugural season in the heart of Chicago’s northwest suburbs. Beginning in November, the team will play 24 home games at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates. The NBA D-League, which is entering its 16th season, will expand to 22 teams for the 2016-17 season with the additions of the Windy City Bulls, Greensboro Swarm, and Long Island Nets. Last season saw 32 D-League players called up to the NBA a total of 42 times.
