WINDY CITY EXTENDS SEASON-HIGH WINNING STREAK TO THREE, BEAT 905 99-91

The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, extended their season-long winning streak to three games with a 99-91 victory over the Raptors 905 on Wednesday night at Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

Four Windy City players scored in double figures led by Kaiser Gates who collected his second-consecutive 20-point game and double-double. He tallied a team-high 22 points, 11 rebounds and six assists – all of which set career-highs. Jon Octeus collected a season-high 14 points and added two rebounds and three assists in a reserve role, while CJ Fair registered his third double-double of the season with 11 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. V.J. Beachem had 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks and Joe Kilgore pitched in with nine points and three steals.

The 905 were without the services of both Two-Way players, Jordan Loyd and Chris Boucher. Former Chicago Bull, Kay Felder led the way with a game-high 33 points to go with four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Duane Notice collected his first career 20-point game and tallied 23 points, while Khadeem Latin registered his second consecutive double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, accompanied by four steals and five blocked shots, which set career-highs.

To begin the game, Windy City’s offense was clicking on all cylinders, allowing them to take control of the game from the outset. After missing their first two shots and falling behind by two, the Bulls rattled off 13 consecutive points to take an early 15-4 lead. The 11-point advantage eventually swelled to 20 as Windy City created separation with a 14-0 run late in the quarter. The 905 went the final three and a half minutes without a field goal and shot a season-low 14 percent in the period. On the flip side, Windy City shot 60 percent in the opening 12 minutes, with nearly half of their points coming from the three-point line. The Bulls scored a season-high 32 points and led by 23 at the end of the first quarter.

Windy City’s offensive success persisted in the second period as they began the quarter on a 9-3 run to take a 41-12 lead, their largest of the night. However, the 905 found their rhythm and used an extended run to get themselves back in the game. In total, the Raptors outscored the Bulls 39-20 and concluded the quarter on a 34-11 run. The Bulls made eight field goals in the stanza, but the 905 poured in 15 makes from the floor, which was difference in the quarter. Windy City saw their 29-point lead shrink to four and led 52-48 at the intermission.

After dominating the second quarter, the 905 struggled to begin the second half, missing their first six shots from the floor. They totaled five points in the opening five minutes and it wasn’t until the 6:57 mark when they ended their field goal drought on a three-point play by Notice. Conversely, Windy City scored the opening four points of the third quarter and retook a double-digit lead on a three-point basket by Hall. Following the basket, the 905 rattled off 10 of the next 13 points and sliced the lead to four but were unable to draw closer in the period. The Bulls closed the quarter with a 13-6 spurt and maintained their double-digit advantage heading into the final 12 minutes.

The Bulls extended their lead in the early portion of the fourth quarter as Kilgore nailed a three-pointer, giving Windy City an 81-68 lead with just under nine and a half minutes remaining in the game. The 905 didn’t go away quietly and used one final run to make it interesting down the stretch. They trimmed the lead to three on a 20-10 spurt, which forced a Bulls timeout with 2:57 left to play. The Raptors made it a one possession game on several occasions but were unable to tie the contest at any juncture. Gates led the game charge, scoring 10 of his 22 points in the fourth, while making six throws in the final minute to secure the 99-91 Windy City victory.

With the win, Windy City picks up their second victory in franchise history and snap a two-game head-to-head losing streak. The Bulls have won three consecutive games for the first time since last season when they amassed six straight victories.

Windy City concludes their four-game road swing with a 3-1 record and are now one game under the .500 mark. The Bulls return home Friday night to take on the Long Island Nets. Tip-off at Sears Centre Arena is set for 7:00pm CT.
