By Windy City Bulls Staff /November 20, 2022
The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce 99-94 on the road Saturday night at the Sanford Pentagon. The Bulls were led by guard Carlik Jones’ 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.
The Bulls led by as many as nine in the first half, however, they lost the lead at the end of the second quarter, finding themselves down three at halftime.
Chicago Bulls Assignment center Marko Simonović blocked a shot, leading to a layup by forward Nick King that capped off a 10-0 Windy City to bring the Bulls within three points of the Skyforce with 2:30 left in the game. But Windy City’s late surge came up just short, as the Skyforce narrowly held on for a five-point victory.
Both teams struggled to hit shots, with Windy City shooting 40.2% from the field while the Skyforce knocked down 38.4% of their field goal attempts.
The Skyforce did a lot of their damage in transition, racking up 25 fastbreak points to Windy City’s eight. But the Bulls controlled the offensive boards, scoring 16 second-chance points while Sioux Falls managed six.
Windy City center Daniel Oturu went 7-for-8 from the field, putting up a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Ethan Thompson chipped in 14 points, while Simonović finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Sioux Falls was led by guard Mychal Mulder with 29 points and guard Dru Smith with 28 points.
With the loss, Windy City falls to 5-2 on the season, while Sioux Falls improves to 3-3.
Next, the Bulls travel back home to face the Cleveland Charge on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. at NOW Arena. The game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago.
