Windy City Bulls Narrowly Fall to Lakeland Magic

The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, lose to the Lakeland Magic 109-108 Saturday night at NOW Arena. Chicago Bulls Assignment center Marko Simonovic led Windy City with 21 points on 10-for-13 shooting from the field to go along with 12 rebounds.
Windy City held a narrow 25-21 lead after the first quarter. Lakeland chipped away at the Bulls’ lead in the second period, but Windy City entered halftime ahead by one.
The Bulls dominated the third quarter, but the Magic stormed back in the fourth to escape with a one-point victory.
Chicago Bulls Two-Way guard Carlik Jones notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 assists. Guard Ethan Thompson and forward Nick King added 17 points and 15 points for Windy City, respectively. Guard Javon Freeman-Liberty came off the pine to score 14 points and grab 11 rebounds.
Lakeland was led by guard Jay Scrubb with 32 points on 14-for-27 shooting from the field. Magic guard Zavier Simpson finished with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds.
With the loss, Windy City fell to 2-3 in the regular season, while Lakeland improved to 2-2.
Next up, the Bulls travel to Long Island to take on the Nets at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Monday, Jan. 9. The game is slated to tip-off at 6 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on NBAGLeague.com.
