Windy City Runs Out of Gas Against Long Island, Oturu Scores 33

By Windy City Bulls Staff /February 12, 2022

The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, came up just short against the Long Island Nets, falling 110-107 at NOW Arena Friday Night. Windy City’s Daniel Oturu submitted a season-high 33-point performance to go along with 10 rebounds.

The Bulls found themselves in a 31-23 hole after the opening quarter. But Oturu scored 13 second-quarter points to help Windy City outscore the Nets 30-27 and head into halftime trailing by just five.

With an 18-5 run to start the third quarter, Windy City quickly erased the halftime deficit and took an eight-point lead with 8:12 left to play in the period. But Long Island wouldn’t go away, battling back to get within a point of the Bulls heading into the fourth quarter.

The final 12 minutes were a defensive slugfest as both teams struggled to find offensive success. The game looked to be headed toward overtime after Windy City’s Scottie Lindsey knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game at 107 with 11 second left to play. However, Long Island’s Craig Randall II answered with a triple of his own with 2.9 seconds remaining to win the game.

Devon Dotson finished with 22 points and seven rebounds for Windy City, while Chicago Bulls Assignment center Marko Simonović chipped in 20 points and six boards. Kerwin Roach II was the fourth Windy City player to reach double figures, ending with 10 points.

For Long Island, Randall II led the way with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Five other Nets players scored in double figures, including Tyrone Wallace’s 17-point and 12-rebound double-double.

With the loss, the Bulls fall to 6-9 on the season, while the Nets improve to 9-8.

The Bulls and Nets are scheduled to square off again tomorrow night at NOW Arena for Windy City’s Hispanic Heritage Night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on NBAGLeague.com.
