WINDY CITY SELECTS TWO PLAYERS IN NBA G LEAGUE DRAFT; ACQUIRE MIKE AMIUS AND RIGHTS TO JAKARR SAMPSON

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL – The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, selected two players in the 2018 NBA G League Draft on Saturday and acquired Mike Amius and returning player rights to JaKarr Sampson in draft-day trade.

Windy City selected Joe Kilgore (6’5, 190) from Texas A&M - Corpus Christi with the 12th overall pick in the first-round of Saturday’s draft. Kilgore played all four seasons with the Islanders, appearing in 122 games, and started all 65 contests in his junior and senior seasons. He collected career averages of 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 24.8 minutes, while garnering shooting percentages of .425 from the field, .313 from three and .778 from the foul line.

In the third round (64th overall), Windy City selected Marvin Smith (6’6, 205) from UNC - Greensboro. In four seasons with the Spartans, he saw action in 123 games (111 starts), averaging 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 25.1 minutes per game. He notched shooting percentages of .360 overall, .324 from distance and .708 from the free throw line.

Windy City traded the returning player rights of Jarell Eddie and Jaylen Johnson to the Iowa Wolves in exchange of Mike Amius, who was selected 38th overall in the second round, and the returning player rights to JaKarr Sampson.

Mike Amius (6’7, 210) played his lone collegiate season with Western Carolina, comprising season averages of 12.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.2 steals. He owned shooting percentages of .549 from the from the field and .634 from the free throw line.

Sampson (6’8, 223) comes to Windy City with three years of NBA experience, appearing in 169 games (78 starts) with the Philadelphia 76ers (2014-16), Denver Nuggets (2015-16) and Sacramento Kings (2017-18). For his career, Sampson has accumulated averages of 5.1 points and 2.6 rebounds, while shooting .444 from the floor, .250 from the three-point line and .659 from the free throw line. Additionally, Sampson has 84 games (57 starts) of NBA G League experience with 35 of those contests coming in the 2017-18 campaign with the Reno Bighorns. Last season, he tallied 17.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals and nearly average a block per game in 28.7 minutes of action. He shot .508 overall, .289 from beyond the arc and .770 from the line.

The training camp roster stands at 15, with training camp beginning Monday, October 22.

The Windy City Bulls enters its third season of professional basketball in the heart of Chicago’s northwest suburbs.
