Windy City Erases 23-Point Second-Half Deficit to Defeat Mexico City Capitanes

The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls clawed back to knock off the Mexico City Capitanes 112-105 on the road Sunday night -- coming back from trailing by 23 points in the process. Windy City was led by forward Henri Drell’s career-high 26 points on 8-for-11 shooting.

The Bulls led by three after the first quarter, but the Capitanes caught fire in the second period to enter halftime ahead by 17. Mexico City’s lead ballooned to 23 early in the third, but Windy City fought back to cut its deficit to eight points heading into the final 12 minutes.

Windy City guard Ethan Thompson came alive in the fourth -- scoring 12 of his 21 points in the final period -- as the Bulls stormed back to earn a seven-point win.

Bulls guard Jeremy Pargo scored a season-high 25 points -- 13 of which came during a third-quarter flurry that helped spur Windy City’s comeback.

Mexico City was led by forward Gary Clark’s 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Capitanes forward Justin Minaya added 24 points on 9-for-14 shooting.

With the win, Windy City improved to 15-12 in the regular season, while Mexico City fell to 16-10. 

Next up, Windy City returns back to Hoffman Estates to take on the Memphis Hustle Wednesday, March 15. The game is slated to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and will air on NBC Sports Chicago following the Chicago Bulls game that night.
